Welcome to the International website
of Self Build
Homes Club LLC
We are an international club set up with the sole intention of empowering
more people to build their own homes.
By building your own home, we mean having a design of your own and commissioning
or managing its construction, not necessarily undertaking any of the
construction yourself.
Members get help through commissioned consultants and others, who can help
them to understand what is involved, help them in finding a suitable plot, and in
sorting out all the options, as well as in many cases matching people into groups,
so that they can undertake joint projects.
Support arrangements, local consultants and other experts allow us to work
fully internationally, but for each member to get local help and support, as good
if not better than they could from a local club to them. We have close working arrangements
with a number of other clubs including Property Club International, and the Property
Pension Club.
Education and information is provided on websites aimed at individual countries.
This website is all about the central organization and gives a guide to what is
happening in a number of countries, and linking
to the national websites allows you to see what is happening in detail in that
country. Select the buttons at the top of any page to get to more pages on
this site and to identify links to other web sites.
In addition to our own websites for those building in
their own country, we are developing jointly with Property Club International a whole
new set of websites, one for each country, where we are looking at countries
from the perspective of those living outside it. An example might be an American
family considering building a property in the UK, the language is the same, and
it would most likely be a good investment, but there are many differences, not
least the situation of gaining building permits to develop a new home. Although
we have a large UK site of our own it looks from the perspective of the UK
member, who would already be familiar with the local culture and practices.
