In the UK which is made up from our perspective of England, Scotland and Wales,
we have a range of service providers now, and a large well written and
detailed website, this was achieved quickly because much of the initial work had
already been done by another club, the Property Pension Club, and support arrangements
for clubs set up by New Atlantis in the UK exists and has been run efficiently
for very many years. New Atlantis is a non profit organization, registered in
the UK, with the principle objective of improving the lives of everyone, it is
not connected with any religious or political organization. They were one of the
organizations that was involved in setting up the Self Build Homes Club, and have
coordinated and encouraged others in helping us to become established. New Atlantis
also established the international support organization that we and others are
able to use to arrange commissioning and more.
We are particularly grateful to the Property Pension Club for both allowing
us to inherit from them all the work they had done in relation to self build
in the UK and for agreeing to limit their own recruitments of new members so
that more resources would be available to us, making using the quality support
they had immediately available to our members and to members in the UK as they
are recruited. The Property Pension Club, also has interest in property but as
'buy to let' and investments, so as to allow people a means of utilizing
property in different ways to create funds and income to cover pension requirements,
pensioners in Britain like many other places have been poorly served by volatile
pension schemes that are based on the stock market. Property in Britain has accelerated
in value over recent years and looks likely to in the future, providing investment
potential, but at the same time presenting difficulties for many to afford the
home they aspire to.
We have had commissioned more research, work, a number of web sites, and
more, and the UK service is now available. We have also joining with others in establishing
another non profit organization in the UK the 'Affordable Homes Project'. This
sets out to develop ways that people can obtain homes for under half of the
going rate, aimed mostly at providing homes in areas where the prices have gone
up to beyond what locals can now afford, but also finding ways for people on
lower salaries to be able to afford homes in a variety of areas.
